20th Anniversary Carnival! We celebrated our 20th anniversary with a carnival made possible by Vera Bradley and Blessings in a Backpack. Thank you Blessings in a Backpack for sending food home on the weekends to support food security! Thank you Very Bradley for supporting Blessing in a Backpack...AND selecting GBCS as one of seven schools across the county to host a carnival. We LOVED it! We are grateful to Danielle Jonas for supporting Blessings in a Backpack and for visiting GBCS! It was wonderful to meet her and her husband, Kevin Jonas. You are welcome to come back ANY time! Middle School Art Elective students assembled blocks of died ice to create this sculpture. Safety, aesthetics, color, composition and stacking techniques were considered during the installation process. Students determined arrangement and placement while working within a set of per determined parameters. We discussed ephemeral art and students took turns documenting the installation and installation process. The ice was colored using cool-aid and food coloring. The forms were frozen in five gallon buckets that were placed outside during the recent cold weather. Students used warm water to release the ice from the buckets.
