The board of trustees can include up to 12 voting members, including eight elected from the general membership, and four who may be appointed from the larger community.
Terms last for three years.

Susan Jackson - Board Chair

Susan Jackson has lived in New Brunswick for four years and has been in New Jersey since 2001. Her daughter is in the second-grade dual language classroom. Currently the school book fair chairwoman, she has been an member of Acelero Learning's local and national Head Start program for the past three years and also worked as a Home Visitor for the Parent-Child Home  Program with United Way of Central Jersey. She has experience in hospitality and has taught English as a second language in Puerto Rico. Susan is also bilingual in Spanish and English.



Shamara Gatling-Davila - Board Vice Chair

Shamara Gatling-Davila was born and raised in New Brunswick. She still resides in New Brunswick with her husband and children, both of whom attend GBCS' Dual Language program. Shamara was valedictorian of her graduating class from Lord Stirling Elementary School and #5 in her graduating class from New Brunswick High School. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Temple University. She worked as a Social Worker for DCPP formerly known as DYFS for 6 years before she decided on a career change. Shamara has worked for the Middlesex County Office of Workforce Development since 2014. She was promoted to Middlesex County Workforce Development Board Policy Analyst in 2016. In addition to working for the County of Middlesex, she has her own business, Personalized Imagery LLC. 




Anju Thomas - Board Trustee

Anju was appointed to the board in 2015.  She was introduced to GBCS through the Blessings in a Backpack Program, which she and her friends implemented at the school in September 2013.  Since then, she has participated in several outreach programs at GBCS.  Anju holds a doctorate in molecular oncology and immunology, and was a lecturer at Princeton University.  Prior to that she worked as a scientist at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.  


Sean Hewitt - Board Trustee

An alumnus of Monmouth University and Walden University, Sean has been involved with the New Brunswick community for over 12 years as an employee of the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick.  The Civic League of Greater New Brunswick is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting New Brunswick residents in the areas of youth development, housing, and community development. This is his first year as a trustee and he is looking forward to contributing to GBCS.
 



Mariu Reynoso - Board Trustee

Mariu Reynoso joined the board in 2016. She is the mother of two boys (1st and 2nd graders of GBCS).  A resident of New Brunswick, Mariu Graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  She is the owner of a tax and accounting office.  Mariu joined the board to give back to the school and the community.  She believes that being a part of her children's education is one of the most important roles of a parent.  



 

Evan Gentry - Board Trustee

Evan joined the board in 2016 as a community board member. He lives in North Brunswick with his wife and two sons and works in the life insurance industry. He first moved to the New Brunswick area in 2007 as a student at Rutgers University where he met his wife, Katelyn. Together, they've committed to engaging with their community and trying to make it a great place to live. Evan holds a bachelors degree from Rutgers and also obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2015.

Claudia Alvarado is a mother of two GBCS students a 5th grader and a 2nd grader. Claudia graduated from Middlesex county college in 2017 with an Associate in liberal Arts in Science. She is currently a senior nursing student at Chamberlain University. She joined the board in 2016 to be an active member of the community as well as being part of her children’s education.



Lynell Burgos - Board Trustee

Lynell Burgos resides in North Brunswick but has strong ties to the New Brunswick community where she taught for 30+ years at both the Woodrow Wilson and A. Chester Redshaw Public Schools. She always finds it a joy reconnecting with former students and their families. Lynell is the proud mother of three daughters and is married to Wilfredo Burgos. Mrs. Burgos is a graduate of William Paterson University and received her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kean University. Joining the Board of GBCS and becoming part of the GBCS family has given her an exciting opportunity to give back to the community which she loves.


Indira Grullon - Board Trustee

Indira Grullon joined the board in July of 2018. She is a proud mother of GBCS 4thgrader Jaylin Alicia, wife, Rutgers University alumni with majors in Sociology and Spanish, soon to be teacher and an advocate for student parent success. She currently lives in South River, however spends most of her time in New Brunswick the city that raised her. She works as a Substitute teacher for New Brunswick Public Schools and the Latinx Community Outreach Coordinator for Honor Your Mamas, an organization aimed to holistically and collaboratively support pregnant and parenting people. She continues to search for ways to better herself, her family and her community. Chris has three children at GBCS and currently works as a Business Specialist in the Division of Life Sciences at Rutgers University. He holds an MBA in Quantitative Analysis and a Bachelors Degree in Finance, both from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Chris is Treasurer of The Children's Development Center of Highland Park and has just finished a term as Chair of the Citizens Recreation Committee in New Brunswick. He has also been a Men's Assistant Soccer Coach at FDU Madison for the past 10 years.
