Educator Evaluation
Educator Evaluation 2010-11
Greater Brunswick Charter School
The Education Director and the Assistant Director are responsible for assessing teachers’ performance at GBCS. Non-tenured teachers are observed three times a year under following areas: Planning and Preparation, Organization and Classroom Management, Teacher-Student Interaction, Instructional Strategies, and Student Assessment Techniques. The teacher being observed also chooses a fellow teacher or teaching assistant to be a peer observer. The peer observer provides additional insight during the evaluation process.
Every beginning teacher at GBCS is assigned a mentor, a senior staff member who provides assistance with various areas such as lesson planning, classroom management, and other typical concerns of beginning teachers.
The purpose of teacher assessment is the improvement of instruction. Evidence of student learning is the strongest confirmation of good teacher performance.
