What is an Enrichment Cluster? It's specially designated blocks of time when learners and school community volunteers with common interests come together to explore a topic. They are student-driven, teacher-facilitated learning experiences in which students develop products and services for real-world audiences.
 
¿Qué es un grupo de enriquecimiento? Son bloques de tiempo especialmente designados cuando los voluntarios de la comunidad escolar con intereses comunes se reúnen para explorar un tema. Son experiencias de aprendizaje impulsadas por los estudiantes y facilitadas por los maestros en las que los estudiantes desarrollan productos y servicios para audiencias del mundo real.

Kids Yoga Series/The Elements in Me

Drum Circle
Facilitator: Mrs. Robyn Baus
Grades: 3rd - 5th Grade
Celebrate Wednesdays with a BANG and join Ms. Robyn for the GBCS Virtual Drum Circle! Together we will discover how to make percussion sounds out of anything and experiment with different drumming patterns. No drums are necessary to join!
 
Cooking Matters for Kids
Facilitator: NJ-SNAP-Ed Nutritionists. 
Grades: 3rd-5th
Cooking Matters for Kids engages kids in learning about healthy eating and provides simple nutritious recipes that children can prepare themselves. Ingredients will be provided. Parents/guardians will be asked to complete a demographic survey.
 
Girls in Gear
Facilitator: Ms. Gabrielle Rossi
Grades: 6th-8th
Girls in Gear™ is a seven-week program for riders ages 11-14 who want to build confidence on and off their bikes. Weekly meetings focus on a mix of emotional development, conversations, bike maintenance, and riding skills. At Girls in Gear, we teach life skills through bike skills

Working with Clay
Facilitator: Mr. James Long     
Grades: 5th
In this Cluster, students will explore some of the many facets of working with clay. The cluster will focus on making clay objects that are both utilitarian and beautiful.  
 
M&Ms
Facilitator: Ms. Ivonne Gallego (MS Social Worker)                                                                                       
Grades: 4th & 5th
Put Yourself first! In this Cluster, you will have the opportunity to talk to friends, have snacks, learn strategies to improve your confidence, and learn about mindfulness.

Photography
Facilitator:  Mr. James Long (Art Teacher)                                                                                                     
Grades: 5th & 6th
In this photography cluster, students will learn how to use a DSLR camera. We will cover aperture, shutter speed, and depth of field while taking photos of issues that interest them.

Volleyball
Facilitators: Ms. Carla La Torre (Spa. Teacher) & Mr. Kevin Kozic (PE Teacher)                                           
Grades: 6th - 8th
The GBCS Volleyball cluster is designed to provide an opportunity for middle school boys and girls to compete and learn the basics of the sport of Volleyball. The students will learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and communication while having fun and improving their volleyball skills.

Dominoes
Facilitator: Mr. Julio Perez (head custodian and GBCS parent)
Grades: 1st & 2nd
Dominoes is one of the most famous board games in the world!
Join Mr. Julio in this very interactive game. You will learn the rules and meet new friends while having fun!
 
 
Baking
 
Baking
Facilitator: Ms. Allie Aponte (Math Teacher)
Grades: 7th & 8th
This baking cluster will be for brand new and seasoned bakers alike! 7th and 8th graders interested in baking are welcome to join to learn some foundations of baking to make recipes from scratch! We will bake cookies and brownies, and even learn some decorating skills for cakes and cupcakes!
 
Gardening
Facilitator: Ms. Jessenia Martinez 
Grades: 2nd & 3rd
Gardening is an activity that is good for both, the mind and the body. We will grow seeds, and plants and make fun science experiments. All ten students will receive a gardening tool kit at the end of the six weeks.
 
Wiffle Ball
Facilitators: Mr. Connor Lindsey and Mr. Kevin Koizic both, Mr. Connor and Mr. Kevin are PE and Health Teachers.
Face Painting
Facilitator:  Ms. Dianna Hess-Schmitt                                                                                                             
Grades: 2nd & 3rd
Come join Ms. Dianna Hess-Schmitt former science teacher to learn the face painting technique. A permission form will be sent separately after being accepted.

Cross-Country for Boys
Facilitators: Ms. Nancy Angelet and Mr. Julio Perez                                                                                       
Grades: 3rd - 5th
Cross-country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run races on outdoor courses over natural terrain.  Being on the cross country team is beneficial for the physical health of students, as well as their mental health. Students will practice in the field next to GBCS and in our playground.

Girls on the Run has fun, evidence-based programs that inspire girl empowerment by building confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills.
