Greater Brunswick Charter School

Greater Brunswick Charter School is a free, independent public school developed by area parents and educators in 1998 in accordance with New Jersey 's charter school law. It serves 293 children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Participating families come from three resident districts-- New Brunswick, Highland Park, and Edison -- plus 12 other school districts in Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties.

School will reopen Tuesday, January 5.

Registration begins
     Parents are reminded that 2010-11 student enrollments have begun. If you have a child now at the school with a sibling who will start kindergarten next year, we encourage you to reserve the kindergarten spot now.
     Kindergarten students who are not enrolled on or before the Jan. 6 lottery will be placed on a waiting list.
      At registration, be sure to provide the child's original birth certificate, two proofs of address, and current immunization records.

Food Pantry Now Open
     Greater Brunswick Charter School has been approved as a food pantry site to receive food from Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services.
     The pantry is open from 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays. Please contact family coordinator Ana Perez at GBCS with any further questions about how to use the food pantry. Ana also can be reached at the school's main number, (732) 448-1052.


GBCS chosen for state pilot program
     Greater Brunswick Charter School has been chosen as one of 16 pilot schools to create and implement personalized student learning plans, under a program by the state Department of Education. Read about the program on the state's web site.
